Firefighter School Mystery HPW, May 3, 2025May 8, 2025 Sorting letters and photos and found this postcard. It was unsent, but says “These are the houses where I live for 25 years. I live in the small one in the back.” My best guess is that someone from our family was a caretaker, staff and/or lived nearby. The school was only in existence for 13 years. A bit of research shows that from 1950 to 1963 it served as a firefighting training school. (Google Translated Link). It also seems the building is still in existence! Here’s the current street view: However, figuring out who wrote the letter is still up for some investigation. Upon learning it was a fire school, it reminded me of this photo that was in the family collection which appears to be taken in front of the same building, but the jury is still out on how these gentlemen are related. I believe I have another picture with firemen of a pig roast, though there are other non-firemen folks in the photo, which makes me think that the gentleman in the apron is our relation: And the final piece of the puzzle of who lived near the firefighter school is this photo that roughly says on the back “this is my husband, the butcher, two firefighters and the cook” taken March 12, 1954.
